ENGINE CAB LIFTS ON ITS OWN WITH MEMBERS INSIDE

Scary moments for members of the Lake St. Louis Fire Protection District Thursday when their pumper truck malfunctioned.

They posted photos to Facebook saying a crew was in the truck when the cab began to lift on its own. The engineer quickly set the air brake and the crew jumped out of the truck. It turns out that there was a short in the wiring causing the hydraulic cab lift to activate and become stuck in the raised position.

Last month we reported the Lake St. Louis Fire Protection District’s trucks are so old that they can no longer find parts to fix them. They’ve started using a loaner truck from neighboring Wentzville until funding is approved to get their own trucks back up and running.
