18 YEAR OLD ORDERED TO DRIVE APPARATUS-APPARATUS CRASHES

According to Rio Bravo (Texas) Fire Chief Julio Gonzalez the driver of their now crashed tanker is 18-years of age and had no drivers license, something the chief says is legal in the state of Texas. “As far as I know in the state of Texas a volunteer can drive to the scene if it’s an emergency. Only to the scene. After that a licensed driver will drive the truck back.”

Problem was that night the station was short staffed and the 18-year old volunteer Firefighter was the only member left at the station. The Chief needed the water tanker to help fight the fire and asked his volunteer to bring it. It wasn’t the first time he drove the truck, there’s training in place and certifications.”
