TWO FIREFIGHTERS INJURED AS APPARATUS RUNS OFF ROAD, CRASHES INTO EMBANKMENT – WEST VIRGINIA

Two firefighters were injured after a crash involving a fire truck in Milton on Wednesday.

Firefighters said they were driving on Newmans Branch Road just after 4 p.m. when a side of the road broke off sending the fire truck into the ditch where it rode the bank until it stopped, according to a social media post by the Milton Volunteer Fire Department.

The firefighters said they were crowded by a delivery truck going the opposite direction who went over the yellow line, forcing them to drive more toward the edge of the road that broke off.

Tree trimming workers nearby stopped to check on the firefighters who were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, the fire department said. They have since been released.
