A Fresno Fire engine was involved in a two-vehicle traffic collision Wednesday afternoon in northeast Fresno. The collision happened at 2:30 p.m. when the fire engine was responding to a medical call from Cedar and Gettysburg avenues. Fresno Fire spokesman Jonathan Lopez said the engine had its lights and sirens on while traveling west on Gettysburg. The engine stopped “to make sure traffic was stopped for them” at Cedar before proceeding through the intersection when a vehicle was struck on its driver’s side by the engine. The man driving the vehicle was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Three firefighters in the engine were not injured. It is unknown what caused the crash, Lopez said. The Fresno Police Department is investigating the collision.
