FATAL RESPONDING APPARATUS CRASH IN PENNSYLVANIA

HERNDON – A Dalmatia woman was killed as a result of Thursday morning’s pedestrian accident involving a piece of fire apparatus. Stonington state police say killed was 66-year-old Rebecca Wenrich.

Troopers say the incident occurred just before 2:30 a.m. along Route 147 in Lower Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County. That’s when troopers say the apparatus was responding to a motor vehicle accident and hit Wenrich when she walked on Route 147.

Troopers say Wenrich was pronounced dead at the scene by Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley.

No other injuries were reported. Route 147 was closed for several hours before it reopened around 9 a.m. Thursday.

No word from troopers on the other crash which precipitated the emergency call. That was reported to Northumberland County 9-1-1 shortly after 2am.
