ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. — One person was taken to the hospital after a crash involving a fire truck in Escambia County Tuesday night.
Units were called to the crash on North W Street and Mobile Highway at 8:58 p.m. Units arrived at 9:02 p.m.

Units were called to the crash on North W Street and Mobile Highway at 8:58 p.m. Units arrived at 9:02 p.m.
According to Escambia County, the crash involved extrication. A 42-year-old Mobile man suffered serious injuries and remains hospitalized.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the Escambia County Fire Truck was traveling south on North W Street approaching Mobile Highway, while the man’s vehicle was traveling west on Mobile Highway approaching North W Street.
FHP states the fire truck “failed to yield right of way to oncoming traffic after attempting to clear the intersection while running lights and sirens.” The front of the fire truck then collided with the right side of the man’s vehicle.
No one in the fire truck was injured.
EMS and Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
