A South Carolina volunteer Firefighter has been charged with DUI after a crash involving the fire apparatus he was driving to a run.
The crash happened at about 1930 last night (Monday) in Starr (SW of Greenville). Firefighter John Russel Hendrix Jr. was driving the Starr Fire Department apparatus on 1st Avenue to a fire alarm when he ran off the right side of the road, hit a culvert and went through a highway sign before flipping. Hendrix was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and is now being held at the Anderson County Detention Center, charged with DUI. The other Firefighter on the rig suffered no injuries.
