CLOSE CALL FOR OHIO FIREFIGHTER-PARAMEDIC AS CIVILIAN TRUCK RUNS RED LIGHT AND STRIKES FIRE SUV

An extreme close call for a Firefighter-Paramedic in Mason, Ohio (north of Cincinnati) this morning. The unit was enroute non-emergency to assist on a run and had the green traffic signal when a civilian operated vehicle t-boned the passenger side. Fortunately the unit was only occupied by the firefighter-paramedic driver. It happened around 0530 this morning when the unit was traveling non-emergency, with bad road/cold/icy and visibility conditions and the vehicle struck him literally out of nowhere. The Firemedic was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
