CHICAGO AREA FIRE APPARATUS AND 3 OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED IN CRASH

WEST DUNDEE, Ill. (CBS) — Four vehicles, including a fire truck, were involved in a crash Friday afternoon in West Dundee.

At 1:49 p.m., a West Dundee ladder truck was stopped in traffic at Route 72 and Carrington Drive, when a sport-utility vehicle crossed the center median and hit two other SUVs—then the fire truck.

Four people from the SUVs were involved in the crash and were taken to area hospitals.—two to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, and two to Ascension St. Joseph Hospital Elgin.

The accident victims’ injuries were not life-threatening, according to the Village of West Dundee. All fire personnel were evaluated, but none were hospitalized.

The fire truck was returning from a call at the time of the accident, according to the West Dundee fire chief.
